God bless the BBC

Blog by Molly Jones under Media

You must know by now that the BBC are opening up extensive new offices and studio space at part of Salford Quays’ Media City, meaning a significant number of the Beeb’s movers and shakers will soon be living and working right on our doorstep. In celebration of this, we wanted to draw your attention to the great things that the BBC are doing for upcoming artists all over the country at the moment.

If you haven’t already checked out the footage from the BBC Introducing’s Musicians’ Masterclass 2011 which features insights from a number of established artists, record labels, managers and BBC DJs on a wide variety of music industry related topics, then we suggest you take a look – you can pick up some great tips on how to make it.

Also don’t forget that you can submit one of your songs through the BBC Introducing website to be considered for radio airplay. You'll be notified automatically when your tracks are listened to by someone at the BBC or if they're going to be broadcast. If they like what they hear, you might even get yourself a live session on Radio Manchester or a slot at the regular BBC Introducing gigs at Ruby Lounge – great exposure for any new artist.

And be sure to keep a look out around town for BBC bigwigs in the coming months and years – press your demo into the right hands and who know where it’ll take you...
