Brighter Sounds on lookout for music makers, producers, DJs, freestylers & composers

News: 20th January 2017 by Louise Dodgson under Live, Music Training & Careers

Brighter Sound and Manchester Central Library have unveiled ‘Found Sounds’, a week-long music project for musicians, producers, beat-makers, DJs, freestylers, and composers.

Brighter Sound is looking for 15 musicians aged 16-25 to take part in an ambitious project from Monday 20th to Friday 24th February inclusive. Over the course of the week, participants will take over Manchester Central Library to explore and experiment with the library’s incredible archives of over 2,000 audio files. Collaborating with a team of skilled professional producers, they’ll sample found sounds from around the city to create new work and a lasting musical legacy. The project will finish with a performance at the Central Library and participants will be given the opportunity to add their work to the archives for future generations to explore.

Musicians excited by the potential to use found sounds in new tracks and compositions and with experience of beat-making, production, sampling, DJing, freestyling, remixing / refixing or live instrumental are invited to apply. The deadline is 8pm on Friday 27th January.
