The Roundhouse’s annual festival of emerging music, Roundhouse Rising, returns for 4 days of live music and a range of music industry masterclasses, panels, workshops and creative projects.

Live music highlights include Ninja Tune’s electronic-funk-hip hop duo Letherette, one half of Swedish duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums – Mariam The Believer, electronic producer Tim Exile, the critically acclaimed DEMS and East London producer Midnight Davis. Generator  present their Tipping Point Showcase with Blessa, Fé and Prides; Artrocker present a bill that includes post-punk-funk trio Shopping and Norwegian punk rockers Honningbarna whilst Sexbeat Records showcase past, present and upcoming releases including indie-pop sweethearts Fear of Men and dream shoegaze two-piece GAPS.

Cape Town-based electronica/hip hop producer Wildebeats and Johannesburg performance art ensemble The Brother Moves On will travel from South Africa to join the festival bill, having been handpicked by the Roundhouse in partnership with Connect ZA, British Council and Live Magazine SA, a project that works to connect the new generation of creative professionals in the UK and South Africa.

Alongside an incredible line-up of new music, the festival aims to support the next generation of artists and industry leaders with two days dedicated to offering advice and insight into the music business. Generator presents an Artist Development Masterclass Day which will feature high profile music industry experts and offer essential insight, thought-provoking debate and practical advice for emerging artists and DIY music businesses. CMU present a second day of interviews, panels and insight sessions about getting started in the music business. Whether you’re an artist running your own affairs, a manager plotting your band’s career or you aspire to work in the music industry, these are essential sessions.

Oli Kluczewski, Festival Producer: ‘Rising Festival 2014 is our biggest and boldest to date, showcasing even more fantastic new music than ever. We really want people to come to the festival, experience the building and discover something new, take part and be inspired. In addition to the all the great music, the programme features loads of practical advice sessions for emerging artists and young people looking to get ahead in the creative industries. The Roundhouse aims to make Rising an essential event on the festival calendar for anyone looking to break into the music business.’

To support the Roundhouse’s work with 11-25 year olds, the festival has also programmed a range of creative projects specifically for that age group, including a songwriting masterclass and ‘demo surgery’. Participants will additionally have the opportunity to showcase their work at the festival.
