BPI encourages spending on new artists
News: 13th July 2010 by Louise Dodgson under Finance, Law & Music Business, Record Labels

At last week's AGM, the chairmain of the BPI drilled it home to their record label members that they must not forget the importance of investing in new artists. The music business has undergone some rapid changes in recent years, and one of the areas most affected by these alterations are the record companies who have been forced to deal with a decline in CD sales.
The impact of these changes and the affect on a label's overall business model will obviously dictate how and where money is spent, and the BPI have aired concern that investing in and developing new bands and artists should not suffer as a result. Let's hope this does not become the case!
