News: 27th April 2010 by Louise Dodgson under

Jimmy & The Sounds new single ‘Sounds’ was selected to receive the remix treatment and have a video made by visitors to Generator’s website.
Sound & Vision is a project to team emerging artists, remixers and film makers to collaborate and produce a track with a remix and video.
Around 93 emerging North East acts submitted tracks for Sound & Vision and the entries were whittled down to just six including Mammal Club, Viva City, Hellfire Club, France & the Habsburgs and Nadine Shah.
Visitors to the site chose ‘Sounds’ as the track to be remixed after an internet campaign led by the band secured more than 50% of the vote. ‘Sounds’ by Teesside band Jimmy & The Sounds will be released as a single on April 28 on New Blood records.
Anthony from Jimmy & The Sounds, said: “The band are totally elated about our track being chosen for the Sound & Vision treatment. This past month has been great for us and there’s been loads going on with our single release set for 26th April and now this!
“We can’t wait to work with some great remixers and filmmakers to produce a fantastic video and remix for ‘Sounds’.”
Jimmy & The Sounds will be launching their single at a special party in their home town of Middlesbrough on Saturday 24th April at Arena.
Sound & Vision is now looking for producers to remix the track, in return remixers get the chance to take part in the full project with a video being made to accompany the remix as well as £500 cash.
Remixers should visit www.generator.org.uk/soundandvision to find out more and to hear the track, individual tracks for remix purposes can then be supplied when people sign up to the project. Remixers have until Wednesday 12 May to submit their tracks.
The unique opportunity was created by Generator, the UK’s leading music development agency, and Northern Film + Media, the regional screen agency for the North East of England.
Joe Frankland, Music Support Manager at Generator, said: “We had a lot of people logging on to the site to listen to the six shortlisted tracks and then vote for which track to work on as part of Sound and Vision.
“Jimmy & the Sounds are a really well supported band and we’re looking forward to seeing what people come up with as a remix in the next stage and how the video turns out.”
Agnes Wilkie, Creative Industry Director, Northern Film + Media, said: “It’s really exciting to have finally chosen the track - ‘Sounds’ was a very popular choice. Now we’d like to invite all remixers to come forward and take part in Sound & Vision.
“It’s already proven a brilliant way of identifying a wealth of North East talent and I can’t wait to see and hear the next submissions.”
After the remix is complete the artist and remixer will work with a filmmaker and mentor Dick Carruthers, who has made films for artists including Oasis, The Killers and The Who, to produce a video. The complete video will then be showcased at an exclusive event.
Sound & Vision is part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund 2007-13, secured through regional development agency One North East.
