Kerrang! Radio partners with Slicethepie to let listeners choose new music

News: 17th February 2010 by Louise Dodgson under

Kerrang! Radio has signed a deal with music filter service Slicethepie allowing fans to vote for unsigned artists to be played on air.

The partnership will allow bands and artists to upload their music to the Kerrang! site so listeners can review and vote for tracks. The most popular songs will then be put forward to radio show producers and presenters, who’ll select tracks to play on-air.

Kerrang! also plans to launch apps across social networking sites later in the year that will allow people to chat about the artists and songs.

Loz Guest, head of specialist music and evening show presenter at Kerrang!, said, “Not only will this benefit artists but it’ll make the selection process more democratic. We’re sent literally hundreds of demos each week that all deserve thorough evaluation and it’s cool that our listeners can now be a part of this.”

Slicethepie lets users earn money from reviews, while music fans can invest in upcoming artists by directly purchasing music.
