City Showcase London 6th-8th May 2010

News: 28th January 2010 by Louise Dodgson under

"There are plenty of festivals that devote themselves to showcasing emerging artists, musicians and performers. But there are few with the track record of City Showcase." Metro

City Showcase, the live music event that takes over the capital between 6 - 8 May 2010, is thrilled to announce another massive addition to its festival portfolio - City Showcase Rocklands - to be hosted in London’s established arts and music quarter, South East London.

City Showcase Rocklands sees participating venues, including The O2, Amersham Arms, Old Police Station and The Bunker, along with major retail outlets, coming together to promote this massive music and arts festival.

City Showcase Rocklands events are on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th May 2010, with a vote for the favourite performances to play the Saturday stage. The O2 centre becomes the heart of City Showcase Rocklands on Saturday 8th May as it hosts a day of music and dance under its roof. Culminating at the City Showcase Rocklands main stage event at the British Music Experience, a
permanent, high-tech, interactive music museum housed at The O2.

Recognised by Time Out, who called it "the capital's new capital of underground arts, culture and getting on down", and the New York Times, who praised the creativity that has inspired a community, South East London is enjoying a boom in socially inclusive, diverse and art powered ideas. "It's the perfect venue for City Showcase Rocklands and our natural first choice as we bring
this fantastic new addition to our line-up", says City Showcase Director, Nanette Rigg, who is proud to work with similar not-for-profit event co-ordinator, the Artful Music Tourist Board of Rocklands (www.myspace.com/artfulmtb) and with the British Music Experience and The O2.

Now in its 9th year, City Showcase has enjoyed major success in music innovation and collaboration - discovering and showcasing many UK and International acts, such as Keane, Razorlight, N-Dubz and Amy Winehouse. 2010 promises to be the best yet and the search for the next wave of credible and emerging new talent is on! All types of music are included from electro to pop, rock to urban and performers from bands to singer songwriters and solo artists to DJ's. City Showcase provides public exposure, advice, mentoring, crucial contacts, plus the opportunity to perform in West End retail stores and legendary venues.

Additionally it hosts a series of workshops and seminars at The Apple Store, bringing aspiring talent together with the most influential figures in what is a much reshaped and refreshingly vibrant new music industry.

Any artists that want to showcase their work at City Showcase Rocklands should send a MySpace link or weblink, a brief biography and a photo to City Showcase Rocklands Application, to Caffy St Luce at: [email protected]

Deadline for applications is 14 February 2010
