Music Venue Trust releases 2025 annual report

This week the Music Venue Trust released their annual report for 2025, summarising the state of the grassroots live music sector.

Their findings include a rapid downturn in employment as changes to government taxation has resulted in more than 6000 job losses in the sector, plus data also shows that a staggering 175 UK towns and cities are missing out on live music as the touring circuit continues to shrink.

Last year alone 30 grassroots music venues closed down, and without significant financial support within this sector, this decline will see the continued downturn in development opportunities for unsigned and emerging acts who hone their craft whilst on the road and playing live.
