Widely regarded as a vital beating heart for new music in the UK and beyond, Sound City’s return in 2021 promises to be a special return for a weekend that’s played a pivotal part in some of the biggest breakthroughs in global music over the past decade and a half.

With a stunning first batch of names confirmed for the festival weekend, primed to make their mark in style, Sound City has revealed details of their special Apply To Play programme - giving undiscovered artists the opportunity to take to the Sound City stage in 2021. Breaking down the barriers between artist, festival and audience, it plays a vital role in Sound City’s year-round commitment to supporting new music and talent development both in the city region of Liverpool and across the globe.

A breeding ground for future greatness, Sound City has played host to some of the biggest acts on the planet before anyone else, with the likes of Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran, The 1975, Stormzy, Christine & The Queens, Wolf Alice, Catfish & The Bottlemen and many more playing on tiny stages at the event and garnering vast waves of new fans on their way to the top. A stepping stone to get emerging artists’ music in front of the wider industry, fans from across the globe and more - Sound City’s Apply To Play programme will once again be opening that door for a future great to follow in those illustrious artists’ footsteps, and on to something even bigger.
