Disappointing statistics reveal that a third of musicians may leave the industry due to COVID financial difficulties

Shocking statistics gathered by the Musicians' Union show that many UK music makers are struggling to survive in their chosen career, with a third considering leaving the industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and a lack of effective support from the government.

The MU's poll amongst 2,000 musicians reveals that many musicians are unable to access emergency support, and as a result 34% may leave the industry due to financial difficulties. 88% feel that government financial support has not done enough. Obviously, this is very disheartening news and the MU are encouraging those working in music to join them in their continued lobbying, write to their local MP, and sign petitions.
