Up to 92% of UK music festivals may go out of business in 2020

As the news breaks that yet another major festival is cancelled for 2020, Leeds/Reading, it obviously poses the question of how the smaller, independent festivals will fare.

The Association of Independent Festivals has spoken out to say that up to 92% of its members are not confident they will survive after cancelling events this summer, unless the government steps in to offer support. Many festival companies are slipping through the cracks of  current government funding and initiatives, and the AIF is calling upon UK government to distinguish between 'retail' and 'seasonal' businesses in its funding schemes.
