Agent Of Change takes flight as government agrees to address planning rules to protect UK gig venues

Congrats to everyone involved in bringing the Agent Of Change bill to prominence and everyone who has campaigned to spread the word, which culminated in success last week when Housing Secretary, Sajid Javid, agreed to work alongside the music industry to make improvements to planning policies - namely putting the responsibility of potential sound issues when building new homes or converting old buildings of a different purpose into housing onto the property developers, and away from the existing live music venues.
This is a huge step in the right direction in saving the UK's gig venues which serve as a valuable platform for unsigned talent to develop their craft. Whilst there is still more work to be done to preserve this vital 'training ground' for our music legends in the making, it's a massive achievement all the same. In the words of Music Venue Trust: "Agent Of Change is a great first step on a long path towards a fantastic, thriving, grassroots circuit. It's not the end of the journey."
