News: 29th June 2017 by Louise Dodgson under Music Training & Careers

Brighter Sound is welcoming US rapper Jahi to head up their I Live Hip Hop Summer Residency, a week-long free summer residency of workshops aimed at anyone aged 14-20 years who has a passion for hip-hop, grime and popular music.
The residency will take place from Monday 7th to Friday 11th August at Manchester's Band on the Wall. The week is a chance to meet and collaborate with like-minded, talented young artists and musicians, and work with industry professionals in production, vocals and studio recording, including US rapper Jahi.
Oakland rapper Jahi is frontman of PE 2.0, the next generation of iconic New York rap group Public Enemy. Jahi first met Public Enemy legend Chuck D after performing at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, kick-starting a friendship and music collaboration which saw him join Public Enemy’s 20th Anniversary Tour as MC and led to the formation of PE 2.0 in 2014. Jahi has released numerous underground solo projects, toured with the likes of Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Blackalicious, The Roots and Mary J Blige, and enjoys a successful career as a educator and programme manager.
Working with a team of established producers, lyricists, MCs and musicians, you will write and record tracks, collaborate with other creatives, and build on skills and repertoire. You will also be given the opportunity to work towards and receive a nationally recognised Arts Award accreditation at the end of the week.
