When we stumbled across this blog on Hypebot, we were eager to share such a valid point. At The Unsigned Guide we're often asked by bands and musicians about how to approach the big, household names - NME, Radio 1, the major labels, The Hype Machine and so on. It makes sense to want to see yourself featured or championed by the brands that are so well known and familiar to you, but the truth is that no band or artist gets to this point without starting small first and working your way up.

This article offers 4 reasons why sending your music to small blogs is more effective than going straight to the larger, better known ones. And, although it's marvellous to aim high, it is unlikely you will ever get featured there without having some lower level coverage first.
