Your chance to perform on the main stage at Bestival!

News: 5th May 2016 by Louise Dodgson under Live

Tracks 4 Change is the UK’s first purpose-focused online songwriting competition which exists to provide young people aged 16-22 with a chance to have their say, by writing a song that expresses their opinion and feelings about what they would like to see change in the world.

The winning song will be performed on the main stage at Bestival 2016 (officially UK’s Best Major Festival 2015), to an audience of over 60,000 people. In order to be eligible, the entrants have to be registered to vote.

We have a fantastic panel of celebrity judges lined up to shortlist our finalists - Bestival founder Rob da Bank, actress Maisie Williams and entrepreneur Jamal Edwards MBE.

WHY ARE TRACKS 4 CHANGE DOING THIS?
In the General Election last May, there were 3 million newly eligible voters. Tragically, 2 million of those chose not to exercise their democratic right. In order to encourage young people to participate, we are inviting them to have their voices heard and tell us about the issues that concern them in a song.

WHAT’S SHOULD THE SONG SOUND LIKE?
The songwriter or band must write an original track, which is no more than 5 minutes long, with the theme of change running through it – be it in politics, their job, their area or within themselves. Any style of music goes, whether it's rap, pop, grime, jazz, spoken word, electronic, classical, acoustic, or whatever voice of choice - we want to hear it, see it and be inspired by it. We live in a democracy after all, right? The power to create our very first Track 4 Change is in their hands.

The competition will be run through tracks4change.co.uk, with tracks uploaded via YouTube and voting for the final winner through Twitter, from 1st June 2016.

“Young people. You do have a voice. I’m here with Bestivals’ backing to help you create something musical that shows society that your generation does care.”

~ Rob da Bank, Bestival Founder
