Music streaming pushes gig ticket sales

News: 16th July 2015 by Louise Dodgson under Selling & Distributing Your Music

Music streaming pushes gig ticket sales

Recent research conducted by EventBrite shows that music streaming services are helping drive sales of gig tickets with listeners discovering new artists through streaming and then wanting to find out more by seeing them live. With the likes of Spotify teaming with Songkick, gig tickets can be purchased directly in a matter of minutes whilst you're listening. The study also throws up some interesting stats on music discovery channels and more. Check out the results via the Techcrunch and Eventbrite links below.

In related streaming news, weteran songwriter Neil Young has decided to take down his music catalogue from streaming services due to his disappointment in the sound quality. Making a change from the usual dispute over low royalty payments, Neil sums up his dissatisfaction with the sound saying
“I don’t feel right allowing this to be sold to my fans. It’s bad for my music.”
