Independent Venue Week is upon us and these 7 days are all about celebrating the grassroots gig venues across the UK that are a huge part of our thriving music scene. Many live music venues are taking part by featuring special shows to highlight their value in helping emerging bands and artists flourish.
Jack Daniels have also announced their small venue initiative which will be running for the next 12 months involving a number of select independent gig venues around the country. The brand will host regular events at these venues featuring unsigned talent with certain gigs being recorded and filmed.
Let's not forget that running and sustaining a gig venue is no mean feat and with many closures taking place due to noise complaints of late, it's important to give your local venues the support they deserve. In Brighton a local gig promoter has created Standing Up For The City's Music Venues, and plans to lead a deputation at the next city council meeting.
