Apply to play the North East's biggest event for emerging music

News: 20th January 2015 by Louise Dodgson under Live

Generator are once again looking for the best emerging North East talent to play this year’s Evolution Emerging - their takeover of the best venues in the Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle on Saturday 23rd May.

Evolution Emerging will see 40 emerging artists playing alongside special guest headliners and artists unearthed through their innovative Tipping Point blog and from Monday 19th January – Friday 6th February all you have to do to apply to play is complete the two stage application process via the link below.

Evolution Emerging continues to grow each year and has firmly established itself as the biggest event for emerging music in the North East. The event was nominated for ‘Best Event Tyneside’ at last year’s Journal Culture Awards and with the 2014 festival selling out, Generator are looking for the next wave of artists to play in 2015.

Last year’s headliners included The Lake Poets who are now off to record their debut album in Nashville with Eurythmics star Dave Stewart, as well as Boy Jumps Ship who have since toured across Germany and supported Twin Atlantic, and Bridie Jackson and the Arbour who, following rave reviews from the likes of The Quietus, have constantly been on the road in support of their second album. Generator also gave a platform to rising stars such as Gallery Circus, Sam Fender, Dalaro & Immy Williams who performed to many of the 1,500 music fans that descended on the Ouseburn Valley in May 2014.

Generator are also extremely pleased to continue our partnership with independent music publisher, Sentric Music. If you are based outside of the North East and are a Sentric artist, you can apply for the chance to play Evolution Emerging via your Sentric profile.

Bob Allan, Artist Development Manager at Generator says: “We’re really proud to be in our seventh year of Evolution Emerging and with our 2014 event selling out it proves that people have an appetite to discover the next big thing. Also, Generator’s ability to programme the best emerging talent in the region and beyond has provided a fantastic platform for new acts to follow in the footsteps of Lulu James, Mausi, Beth Jeans Houghton, The Lake Poets, Nadine Shah, Lisbon, We Are Knuckle Dragger and Boy Jumps Ship. Don’t miss out and apply now!”

Submit one track only, pick your best song! Once the application deadline of February 6th (11.59pm) has expired, Generator will invite a panel of North East music tastemakers to listen to all submissions and vote for their favourites. Successful artists will be informed from the end of February and Generator will announce the full Evolution Emerging lineup in March.
