Born To Be Wide host music management seminar with Biffy Clyro's manager

News: 26th September 2014 by Louise Dodgson under Artist Managers, Music Training & Careers

Born To Be Wide returns to Edinburgh’s Electric Circus on Thursday 2 October with a modified format, which sees the evening begin with a live interview followed by a discussion panel in the second half.

The new look set-up, will feature Biffy Clyro manager, Dee Bahl, in conversation with the event’s co-founder Olaf Furniss. He will also take part in a discussion about music management.

Additional speakers confirmed for the panel are Justine Ward from GR, whose roster includes Primal Scream, Texas and Baby Strange, and Björn Sandberg, who looks after Glasgow act Casual Sex. An additional speaker is expected to be announced prior the event.

“Dee seldom does interviews, so this will be a rare opportunity to hear the story of the manager of one of the world's biggest rock bands,” says Furniss. “It will also be very interesting to contrast his experiences with those of Björn and Justine.”

Furniss adds that the traditional role of music managers is constantly evolving to adapt to an ever-changing business, and the night aims to provide an insight into the different approaches to the job.

Following the interview and panel, the speakers will play a selection of their favourite tracks.
