FOCUS Wales announces keynotes & panellists for 2014 conference

The national showcase for music from Wales will offer a two day programme of keynotes and discussions at The Catrin Finch Centre, Glyndwr University, Wrexham, on the 24th & 25th April.

Topics dealt with on Thursday 24th include an in depth discussion into ‘On-Line Platforms and the empowerment of the independent artist’. Representatives from online platforms such as SPOTIFY, BANDWAGON, and SENTRIC MUSIC discuss the shift in emphasis to ‘the empowerment of the independent artist’, with chair speaker Al Farquhar.   

This is followed by ‘DIY in 2014: Accessing Mainstream Media’ with Huw Stephens – BBC Radio 1 / SWN, as well as Louder Than War, Team Rock Radio, and Love & Disaster.

Thursday is rounded off with a keynote speech from Creation Records and Death Disco founder ALAN McGEE, in conversation with Andrew Childs. 

The first topic of day two is ‘DIY in 2014: Funding for Independent Music in Wales and Beyond’. John Hywel Morris will present and discuss funding support available for independent music projects with representatives from companies including PRS FOR MUSIC FOUNDATION and PLEDGE MUSIC. Prior to this, John will be hosting a PRS for Music Songwriters clinic from 12pm which is a must for upcoming artists. 

The conference will be rounded off with a complimentary drink, food, and a chance to meet the organisers of FOCUS Wales festival along with all the delegates attending on the day.

Delegate Tickets are £50 and available via the link below. This includes entry to all live shows. Tickets also available for conferences at £35 (on door) per day, this does not include entry to FOCUS Wales live shows.
