A sorrowful goodbye to The Fly

News: 10th March 2014 by Louise Dodgson under Media

It comes as sad news to hear that beloved and well known free music magazine The Fly has been closed down by owners MAMA Group. Launching back in 1999, The Fly was pioneering in its field and has been a much read and referenced publication here at The Unsigned Guide over the years.  After recent reports of NME's circulation dropping to less than 20,000, it seems that printed music magazines are struggling greatly against their digital counterparts. The Fly's longest standing member of staff, JJ Dunning, will take ownership of the online brand and seems keen to resurrect the magazine format so let's keep everything crossed for the next generation Fly's return in the future.
