Apply to play the North East's biggest event for emerging music!

News: 22nd January 2014 by Louise Dodgson under Live

Generator are once again looking for the best emerging North East talent to play this year’s Evolution Emerging - their takeover of the best venues in the Ouseburn Valley on Saturday 24th May.

Regional bands and solo artists (from any genre) can apply to play this year's event. Evolution Emerging will see more than 25 emerging artists playing alongside special guest headliners and artists unearthed through Generator's innovative Tipping Point blog.

North East artists can apply to play from Monday 20th January – Friday 7th February by submitting a track via the link below.

And for the first time, we are happy to announce a new partnership with independent music publisher, Sentric Music. If you are based outside of the North East and are a Sentric artist, you can apply for the chance to play Evolution Emerging via your Sentric profile.

The event has grown considerably over the last few years, with not one, but four great headliners last year in Let’s Buy Happiness, Nadine Shah, Shields and B>E>A>K. Generator’s reputation for unearthing talent early through the event was once again cemented with the likes of Eliza & The Bear going on to sign to Capitol Records and support Paramore on an arena tour, Bridie Jackson & the Arbour securing a Glastonbury slot, and Big Beat Bronson playing T in the Park while being playlisted on BBC Radio. The event’s reputation was firmly established, with over 1,500 music fans descending on the Ouseburn Valley.

Joe Frankland, Artist Development Manager at Generator says: “We’re really proud that Evolution Emerging has given an early platform to a massive number of the North East’s biggest artists - Lulu James, Mausi, Lanterns on the Lake, The Lake Poets, Beth Jeans Houghton, We Are Knuckle Dragger, Eva Stone and Boy Jumps Ship to name but a few - so there really is no better opportunity to get noticed and we encourage any artist in the region to get involved. 2014 is set to be our best event yet, with the opportunity through our friends at Sentric for artists anywhere in the UK to play too – don’t miss out!”

Evolution Emerging is supported by Arts Council England, ERDF and PRS for Music Foundation.
