Recorded music equates to small percentage of musician's income

A study carried recently by 5000 independent US musicians of varying genres revealed that the income generated to them from sales of their recorded music only amounts to 6% of their overall income, showing that the impact of music piracy and filesharing has had quite a devastating effect on musicians directly.
