Over 30 days in November, 30 emerging artists from across the UK will work with some of the biggest names in the music industry to record their tracks in the EMI/PRSF Live Music Studio at the Camden Roundhouse, before releasing them on Roundhouse Records and performing at Roundhouse Rising Festival in February 2013.

Joining forces with EMI for the fourth year of 30/30, this groundbreaking youth music project offers emerging artists between the ages of 16-25, one day in a professional recording studio along with top guest producers including Guy Chambers to professionally record and mix their track for free. 30/30 is non-genre specific and aims to attract an eclectic variety of artists.
On behalf of EMI, Janie Orr says: “We’re very pleased to support the Roundhouse’s 30/30 project once again after the success of the last three years. It’s a great idea, offering practical and valuable help and guidance to young people who are interested in music.”

For the first time, the 30/30 project is rolling out to other parts of the UK as the Roundhouse has partnered with Newcastle-based Generator, the UK’s leading music development agency and Cornwall’s music download site Livewire, who will help by sourcing acts and provide recording opportunities in their local areas.

Oli Kluczewski, Music Programme Producer at the Roundhouse: “As always, 30/30 is about providing incredible opportunities for aspiring musicians looking to enter the creative industries and this year we’re able to deliver this on a national level thanks to our new partners. The Roundhouse is committed to working with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds, and these two fantastic organisations will really help us to achieve that.”

All selected tracks created throughout November will be compiled for the 30/30 Album 2012, which is released by the Roundhouse’s in-house label Roundhouse Records and is available on iTunes, with all of the proceeds going towards creating further opportunities for young people, via the Roundhouse’s creative programme for 11-25s.

The talented acts chosen by the Roundhouse team will also have the opportunity to put their questions to a panel of experts from all areas of the music industry at a special event in December, followed by a performance at the Roundhouse’s new music festival, Roundhouse Rising in February 2013.

Joe Frankland, Artist Development Manager at Generator says: “We’re proud to support musicians and music businesses across the UK and we’re very excited to be working in partnership with the Roundhouse and EMI on the 30/30 project. We’ve seen first-hand how effective the project is and we’re thrilled to be involved this year in selecting artists and producers and in providing support to emerging artists through our Artist Development programme.”

Andy Rance, Youth Work Coordinator at Saltash/Livewire says: “I was very excited when approached by the Roundhouse to be a part of 30/30 as I see the potential for some brilliantly talented young musicians from the West Country to showcase their work. In addition, it’s an opportunity for us at Livewire to be part of something outside the region.”

The submission deadline for 30/30 2012 is 1 October. Application details can be found via the link below which also has previous 30/30 albums available for listening.

EMI has been a founding corporate partner of the Roundhouse since 2003.
