Calling all DJs! House The House DJ competition now live

News: 12th September 2012 by Louise Dodgson under

The House The House DJ competition, organised by charitable foundation Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (LNADJ) to discover the UK’s best young DJ talent, is now live on Mixcloud.

The winner will get the chance to play a DJ set in the House Of Commons terrace bar on 6th March 2013, alongside one of the world’s biggest DJs and earn a full Audio Production degree scholarship at one of the four UK campuses of the world renowned SAE Institute. The winner will also be given the opportunity to play at We Love… Space, Ibiza next year.

The House The House competition is open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 25 years old and applications will be made via Mixcloud. Regional heats featuring 8 hopefuls will be held in 12 UK cities, which have now been announced as Glasgow, Belfast, Cardiff, Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol, Brighton, Leeds, Birmingham and London between October and December 2012. The Bristol date on Sunday 21st October will take place at the new Station venue on its opening weekend and the Sheffield event will be held in the City’s Cathedral. Judges will include established DJs, club promoters and music professionals.

6th March 2013 will represent the first time the House Of Commons has opened its doors to such an event, making this an historic occasion for the whole dance music community. The cross-party parliamentary initiative aims to empower young people aged 16-25 years old, by not only engaging them in the House The House DJ contest, but also linking into their own communities by providing a number of hours of voluntary work within a community project in their own city.

Rizzle Kicks, who have thrown their support behind the campaign said, “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life and the House The House competition is a very genius and accessible opportunity for DJs to showcase their talent”.
