Born To Be Wide is set to return on Thursday 4th October with a seminar covering all aspects of releasing your own music.
Topics include how to get a release into shops [both physical and digital], where to get CD/vinyl pressed, registering with collection societies, legal considerations and promotion, as well as how to avoid common mistakes and losing lots of money.
The night will be hosted in association with EMU Bands, whose managing director, Ally Gray, will talk about how places tracks in download stores and streaming services. He will be joined by Duncan McCrone from MCPS-PRS Alliance and Song By Toad Records owner, Matthew Young. Shona Maguire [who records as Plum] will provide an artist perspective, as well as giving a first-hand account of raising money through crowd sourcing.
"Technology makes it increasingly easy to for musicians and DIY labels to release and promote their own music," says Born To Be Wide co-organiser, Olaf Furniss. "This seminar will be a practical guide to how best to do it."
Following the discussion, guests will have the opportunity to meet the panelists, who will stay at the Electric Circus to DJ with a selection of their favourite tunes.
