Universal Music to share Vevo royalties with independent musicians
News: 22nd June 2012 by Louise Dodgson under Creative & Branding, Record Labels, Selling & Distributing Your Music

One of the key owners of Vevo, Universal Music Group, has given the go ahead to share generated income with music publishers and songwriters in North America who have music videos featured on the site. It has taken some time for this agreement to be reached with the National Music Publishers' Association rallying to iron out some form of deal which didn't exclude the independent publishers, so this is quite an achievement and will hopefully start the ball rolling for things to come.
