Instrument shops to embrace National Learn To Play Day!

News: 29th March 2012 by Louise Dodgson under Live, Music Training & Careers, Recording & Production

On March 31st The Bunker will open their doors, along with thousands of musical instrument shops across the UK, and offer free instrument “taster” lessons to the general public as part of 'National Learn to Play Day'. Music for All, the charity of the UK musical instrument industry, have announced the first, annual event to encourage participation and re-ignite our countries passion for playing music.

There are 15 million people in the UK that either want to play an instrument or used to play one. The Day is designed to welcome people into The Bunker and to inspire them to play. People are often surprised to discover that they ARE musical and simply need a musical “experience” to get them inspired to start playing.

The Bunker will offer free lessons on a variety of instruments, supported by our specially trained staff, and additional guidance on getting started learning to play music. Following on from this The Bunker will be running songwriting and performance skills workshops throughout Easter half term for anyone aged under 18. The day long sessions will be held on both Wednesday's over the two week holiday and will offer any young budding musician the chance to develop their skills for free.

Kenny Sanger, Managing Director at The Bunker commented: “The Bunker are aware how much music can change and enrich people''s lives. We are hosting our event to support the annual Learn to Play Day which is a great opportunity to get as many people as possible to experience the wonderful world of making music. We are offering something different for kids over half term to get them out of the house and into a rehearsal room".

The Bunker is also proud to have partnered for the event with local drum retailer, Sunderland Music, the City's only musical instrument store, based in Borough Road. Spaces are limited, so anyone interested in attending should apply by contacting The Bunker via email [email protected] or calling 0191 5671777.
