U2's manager Paul McGuinness is often very outspoken at music industry gatherings and conferences and Midem is no exception. On this occasion, and not for the firt time, he has been airing his views on music streaming service Spotify which he believes is good for artists in a promotional capacity but still requires more transparency in terms of revenues to encourage more record labels and artists to use the service.

Denis Kooker, the president of digital business at Sony Music, also offered his opinions on music streaming and its knock-on effect on download sales, which he feels is not an area for concern at the moment.
