Artist Development & Songwriting qualification comes to ACM

News: 17th August 2011 by Louise Dodgson under Music Training & Careers

The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford is proud to launch a new and unique Artist Development & Songwriting Cert HE course, commencing in September 2011.  The course sets a UK precedent in its aim to equip all graduates with the vital personal strategy and skills required for a successful music career that extends far beyond purely being a gifted performer.

In order to meet these crucial requirements, the curriculum is comprised of six key modules: The Art of Songwriting, Stage Craft, Music Industry Preparation, Music Information Technology, Songcraft and Artistic Development.  The comprehensive program of study will be further enhanced by invaluable student interaction with key industry contacts including top A&Rs and successful songwriters, who will be providing vital feedback in addition to advice on how to achieve longevity in the music industry.

Speaking about the course, Music Industry Development Tutor and former A&R Manager Chris Parles said; ‘This course is designed for artists who wish to be empowered with the skills and tools to take their music career forward at a time in the industry where artist development and investment is diminishing. This course helps support artists in a creative and professional environment to help them build their brands and businesses in today’s exciting and challenging industry.’

The Artist Development & Songwriting course is aimed at musicians who are already competent in their chosen instrument.  For more details on this, and opportunities to study Artistic Development and Songwriting part-time, please visit: www.acm.ac.uk.  All places are limited and are offered on a first-come first-served basis.
