Welsh Music Foundation welcome Infectious keynote speaker

News: 12th July 2011 by Louise Dodgson under Finance, Law & Music Business, Music Training & Careers

Welsh Music Foundation, in association with Focus Wales will welcome Korda Marshall of Infectious Music as a special guest at a free “In conversation with…” event during this year's Llangollen Fringe Festival, on Thursday 21 July 2011 from 5pm.

With almost thirty years in the UK music business, Korda has directed major label A&R departments, produced, executive produced and been a managing director of three large record labels.

With considerable success working with artists such as Madonna, Green Day, Muse, Eurythmics and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Korda is credited with signing the likes of Ash, Pop Will Eat Itself and The Darkness, as well as Gnarls Barkley, The Foals, The Enemy, Pendulum and Seasick Steve more recently.

In 2009, he re-launched his own independent label ‘Infectious Music’ that includes The Temper Trap (whose first album is approaching 400,000 sales worldwide), Local Natives and General Fiasco on its roster.

The Music Manager Forum’s Stuart Worthington will be in conversation with Korda, discussing his experiences and sharing a story or two.

Aimed especially at musicians, labels, managers and promoters in Wales, this not-to-be-missed event in the quirky setting within Llangollen Steam Railway Station is a must-attend for anyone with an involvement or interest in the music industry (or locomotive industry!)

From 6.15pm – 7.15pm, a panel of further industry experts will join Korda, offering hints and tips for those looking to make the most of their music, ranging from playing live to reaching radio and collecting royalties. Networking drinks follow.

Those wishing to be part of the audience must email [email protected] to reserve their place. These sessions are free to attend.
