Point Blank host summer music school for under 18s

Following the popularity of last year’s summer school, award-winning music college Point Blank has announced this year’s collection of activities aimed at music-mad school/college students who want to develop their skills over the summer break.
Each course is taught in a small group at Point Blank’s state-of-the-art recording studios in Hoxton, London. Tutors at the college include Grammy nominated songwriters and producers who have worked with a host of acclaimed artists including Michael Jackson, Massive Attack, Alicia Keys, P Diddy, La Roux, Amy Winehouse, Estelle and Sugababes.
Former Point Blank student and Universal Records A&R man Ben Scarr (who signed Tynchy Stryder) had this to say:

Budding vocalists should check out the Singing Summer Course. This is an opportunity to take singing lessons from an experienced professional singer who guides you through warm-ups, exercises and vocal techniques used by the stars for both live performance and studio recording. The Songwriting Course explores the tricks, tips and techniques behind writing a Top Ten hit! Students learn essential music theory, structure and arrangement techniques and how to write lyrics including hooks. You will also get to record a track in the studio with a professional producer.
The Music Production Course shows you how to build a track up from beats and bass to chords, top lines, EQ and effects, and finally mixing to get that professional sound. Star former student: Beyonce and Rihanna remixer Gareth Wynn
The DJ Summer Course is a short weekend course which teaches the essential skills for DJing using the latest kit including MP3 and CD and good old fashioned vinyl. Taught by a pro DJ we’ll have you rocking the party in no time. Star former student: Ibiza DJ and Carl Cox favourite Nicole Moudaber
And finally the Radio Summer Course is another short weekend aimed at anyone who has ever dreamed of presenting their own radio show. It covers everything from playlisting music to interview technique, audio editing and operating the mixing desk. Star former student: 1xtra and Channel 4’s Gemma Cairney
