The Roundhouse and EMI dedicate September to emerging talent with 30/30

News: 3rd June 2011 by Louise Dodgson under Live, Record Labels

The Roundhouse has joined forces with EMI for the third year of 30/30, a groundbreaking youth music project designed to find and cultivate new and emerging talent. Every day this September, 30/30 will offer unsigned artists between the ages of 16-25,  one day in the Roundhouse’s EMI Live Music Studio, along with top guest producers to professionally record and mix their track for free.
Selected tracks created throughout the month will be compiled for the 30/30 Album 2011, which is released by the Roundhouse’s in-house label Roundhouse Records and is available to buy via iTunes, with all of the proceeds going towards creating further opportunities for young people within the arts.

The lucky acts chosen by the Roundhouse team will then have the opportunity to put their questions to a panel of experts from all areas of the industry from artist management and marketing, through to publishing and A&R. 30/30 is non-genre specific and aims to attract an eclectic variety of artists.

Oli Kluczewski, Music Programme Co-ordinator at the Roundhouse: “30/30 is all about developing and nurturing a thriving musical community of emerging artists and putting them together with top flight music industry professionals. Year on year 30/30 will seek to develop this community through recording and performance opportunities with expert industry advice. Through 30/30 and Roundhouse Records, we’re presenting a brand new model for supporting and championing emerging music in the UK, pushing our artists into the digital world with cutting edge technology such as live web streaming, Roundhouse Radio and our in-house production team.”

The submission deadline for 30/30 2011 is 18 July. Application details can be found at www.roundhouse.org.uk/3030 which also has previous 30/30 albums available for listening.

EMI has been a founding corporate partner of the Roundhouse since 2003.
