Major label update

OK, so let's find out the latest on what's happening with the 4 major record companies, Sony BMG, Universal, Warner and EMI.

First up Vivendi Universal are suffering from a drop in revenue of 35% year on year, with slow music sales being bolstered by the games market. Bertelsmann Group who own half of Sony BMG has also experienced a slump in earnings, 16% to be precise. And Len Blavatnik, the billionaire who has newly acquired Warner looks like he may have also set his sights on EMI and rumours are rife that he will be taking EMI off Citigroup's hands and merging it with Warner. The man clearly loves inheriting debts! Keep your eyes open for further developments over the coming weeks.
