Promoters work to prevent gig ticket fraud

News: 4th May 2011 by Louise Dodgson under Live

Live Nation and Festival Republic have been working together with police to try and find a solution to the countless fake websites selling non-existent gig and festival tickets. In most cases, tickets are sent out to customers only a few weeks before the event, but by sending tickets out straight away this will aid customers in recognising sooner, rather than later, that they have purchased from a dodgy outlet, and in turn aid police in stopping the fake ticket sellers. And did you know, over £160 million is lost via ticket scams each year?! Let's hope this new constraint will help overcome the problem.
