Focus on record shops

News: 12th January 2011 by Louise Dodgson under Selling & Distributing Your Music

Three very interesting articles below; all based around a common theme - the fate of record shops - but each one a little bit different!

First up, the BBC have drawn up a delightful collection of graphs and pie charts to get your teeth into, each reflecting the changes in the way we buy music. It cannot be ignored that the consumer trends will be the ultimate factor in the destiny of our record stores, and there are some interesting trends between different age groups to be noted.

The next link is to an article by The Guardian explaining how the closure of 60 HMV stores is likely to have more impact on the smaller, independent labels than the majors.

And finally, The Independent highlight those record shops that are leading the way and battling the digital age in their own way.
