US Spotify launch may not involve majors

News: 26th November 2010 by Louise Dodgson under Record Labels, Selling & Distributing Your Music

Apparently, some financial troubles reported by Spotify's auditors, Ernst & Young, means that Spotify may just push ahead with its US launch without having the 4 major labels on board. The music streaming services recent accounts show that it has lost £16 million in the past year. Ouch! So the race could be on to bring in some fresh revenue, and the launch of their service in America may be the way to do that. It seems that cracking the US could be what makes or breaks Spotify, so fingers crossed they get the launch right.
