We7 move to radio service

News: 11th November 2010 by Louise Dodgson under Selling & Distributing Your Music

Initially launched as an on-demand music service playing anything the user chooses to select, We7 have had a rethink and have decided to switch to a radio webcast. Ultimately this will offer much less choice to the listener, but apparently this is what We7 have found that their users prefer. A radio aspect was quietly introduced to We7 earlier this year and it has accounted for more than half of the songs played via the streaming service. So there is obviously good reason for their change in operation.

We7 have always struggled to match the punters of main competitor Spotify, and although the on-demand element of the service will still remain as well, this shift could make all the difference to them.
