Manchester students to produce tracks for breakthrough bands

News: 8th November 2010 by Louise Dodgson under Music Training & Careers, Recording & Production

'Next big thing' Q Award nominees Fenech-Soler will be the first to take part in a brand new collaboration between Salford City Radio and SSR (School of Sound Recording) that sees SSR students producing live sessions with top bands for broadcast exclusively on Salford City Radio.

Utilising the cutting edge facilities available at SSR presenters from Salford City Radio will be inviting a selection of bands along to record exclusive sessions.  At the forefront of the sessions is Salford City Radio’s new music champion Shell Zenner and you can catch her exclusive session with Fenech-Soler on Sunday 7th November at 5.00pm on 94.4FM or online at www.salfordcityradio.org.

SSR’s head of marketing Matt Talbot:

‘This is a really exciting project for our students to get involved with. Having the chance to engineer and mix some great bands gives our Live Sound students invaluable experience. Teaming up with Salford City Radio is another example of SSR’s commitment to forging strong industry links and delivering the best training available to our students.’

Salford City Radio’s station manager Roland Gent:

‘Not only does this allow SSR students to gain an understanding of how a community radio station operates it is a great opportunity for our presenters to work with the best up and coming bands and we very much look forward to further developing the relationship between SSR and Salford City Radio.’

Salford City Radio presenter Shell Zenner:

‘As one of my top tips for 2010 back in January, Fenech-Soler epitomise the up and coming bands/artists that I love to champion on my new music show.  2010 has seen them release their debut self-titled album,  tour in support of Groove Armada and has gifted them a Q Award nomination as the 'next big thing' and I'm honoured to have them as the first session.  It is a privilege to be working with SSR on this project, their facilities and engineers are top class and provide the perfect set up for a professional recording session.’
