Music publishing takes the spotlight

With the recording business experiencing decline, music publishing is now stepping out of the shadows and into the spotlight. Unlike the recording industry model where money is made by through the sale of CDs or digital products, there are many more income streams open to the music publisher, making things a lot more sustainable.

Although revenue in the field of music publishing is still not quite as high as that of the recording industry, it is certainly proving to be far more constant in the long term as recording sales continue to diminish and revenue is dropping. This article below by the Financial Times takes a look at how things are changing in these two industries.
