French youngsters to get subsidised music

I'm not sure if this model employed in France would ever come into practice or work in the UK, but it's certainly interesting to see how other countries are dealing with and working around piracy issues.

One of the French methods of tackling illegal filesharing is to provide 15 to 25 year olds with subsidised music downloads, contributed towards by the taxpayer. It will be interesting to observe how this new scheme pans out. Somehow I can't see UK taxpayers being overjoyed about contributing to a similar scheme over here, but who knows?
