Recent TV hit ‘Must be the Music’ all unsigned artist’s generated £50,000 on downloads within 6 weeks with all profits going the artists, the programme have already been put forward for the ‘Best Contributor to Unsigned Music Award’.

I AM Awards ambassadors Moon Visionaries who were recently named ‘Unsigned Band Of The Week’ by BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, and chosen as ‘Breakthrough Band Of The Day’ by the NME commented: “As an unsigned band we are constantly thinking of ways of getting our music heard and building our fanbase. There are plenty of opportunities for bands that aren’t singed to a label so the key to succeeding as an unsigned band is to realise that not having a record deal doesn’t mean you can’t make things happen for yourself. In that respect the I AM Awards will be a fantastic way to recognise the creativity and imagination bands use when it comes to getting their music out there as well the effort they put into taking things to the next level.”

Submissions for the I AM Awards, the inaugural self-releasing and unsigned music awards and open for submissions now, closing date 11th December 2010.

THE I AM AWARDS
Formed in 2008, our mission is to create the annual I AM awards, London’s self-releasing and unsigned music awards which will provide an outlet to showcase self-releasing and unsigned music talent and lay a foundation of possibility of being successful and unsigned.  Proceeds raised from the awards ceremony will be used to create a fund that will give back to the unsigned music community.  The aim of the awards is simple. Is that by 2015, ten percent of the UK top 40 chart will be occupied by unsigned artists in the move of standing for a mainstream unsigned official chart for the UK and we’d like you to be part of it.  Today, download sales count towards the top 40, meaning that any song available on the internet could become the next number one.
