Nominations open for the Music Producers Guild (UK) Awards 2010

News: 24th September 2010 by Louise Dodgson under Recording & Production

The Music Producers Guild (UK) is delighted to announce that nominations for its 2011 Awards are now officially open and anyone who would like to nominate can do so by visiting the website below.

The 2011 Awards will be held in London on February 10th. Once again, the Music Producers Guild is collaborating with the BRITS to present the winner of its Producer of the Year category with a BRIT Award for Best Producer.

The Music Producers Guild Awards has already made its mark on the music industry calendar as an event not to be missed. Last year’s Awards attracted more than 300 stars and music industry VIPs who turned out in force to celebrate the enormous contribution that recording professionals make to the success of the UK’s music industry.

Music Producers Guild Chairman Steve Levine says: “There is no doubt that the vast majority of the music loving public has no idea of the amount of work that goes into recording a successful album. So many talented people play a part, from producers and engineers, to mix and mastering engineers and recording studios. It is only natural that artists and song writers should be applauded but we think it is also important that the accolades are shared with the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make great records. Our Awards aim to redress the balance and shine a spotlight on the audio professionals who are positioned at the very heart of the music industry. We want as many people as possible to be part of these Awards, so please ensure that you get on line and make your nominations.”

Award categories for 2011 include:

Outstanding Contribution to UK Music
Producer of the Year
Recording Engineer of the Year
Best Mastering Engineer
Best Mix Engineer
Best Live Album of The Year (2010)
UK Album of The Year (2010)
UK Single of The Year (2010)
Best Re-mixer
The Joe Meek Award for Innovation in Production
Breakthrough Producer
Breakthrough Engineer
Best Studio
Best International Producer of the Year

Before any awards can be presented, those who hope to win need to be nominated. The Music Producers Guild is encouraging all those who wish to be considered to get online at www.mpgawards.co.uk and put their name forward.

Nominating a worthwhile recording professional involves filling in a very simple online form. Everyone can be part of this process as the nominations are open to anyone who wants to put a name forward. There is also no bar on nominating yourself and the Music Producers Guild is actively encouraging producers and engineers to do this.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for this event and any company that would like be part should contact Sadie Groom at Bubble & Squeak. Telephone: +44 (0) 207 287 4262. Email: [email protected]
