Festival Awards deadline extended

News: 23rd September 2010 by Louise Dodgson under Finance, Law & Music Business, Live

Due to high levels of interest the deadline for festivals to nominate themselves in second edition of the Festival Awards Europe has been extended. Nominations have already come from 28 countries and the number of events taking part is 20 per cent above last year's total.

"We've had more applications than last year, and festivals are still contacting us about being involved," says James Drury, Managing Director of Festival Awards Ltd. "So we've decided to extend the nomination deadline to 8 October, and push public voting back to 13 October, to enable as many events as possible to take part. The Festival Awards is about celebrating the incredible achievements of festival organisers over the last 12 months, and it's exciting to see such vibrancy in the industry."
The application form can be filled in online  and only takes about 5 mins to complete.

Following its successful debut last January, Festival Awards Europe will return to Groningen in the New Year with a larger venue and more categories.

Decided by a combination of public vote and industry juries, these Awards are the only pan-European body solely dedicated to recognising the contributions and achievements of the event organisers and performing artists that generate billions of Euros for local economies and brighten up the summer for tens of millions of festival-goers each year.
Featuring live acts and an aftershow party, the Awards Show takes place on Wednesday 12th January 2011 at Groningen's Stadsschouwburg in The Netherlands, on the opening day of the 25th Anniversary edition of Eurosonic Noorderslag.
