Label vs DIY

A couple of slightly conflicting articles below, but still both worth a look!

The first sums up 5 reasons why signing a record deal can still be a good thing, and why you may choose to buck the trend and not follow the DIY route to the end.

The second link is to an article discussing how even bands and artists signed to a major label can make very little money from an album release and has some detailed breakdowns of where the revenue actually goes.

Definitely food for thought if you are thinking of approaching record labels. It's always best to know both sides of the story!
