6 Music aims to diversify even further
News: 19th July 2010 by Stef Loukes under Media

This report by The Guardian looks in depth into the unique track figures for 6 Music, and compares them to their immediate competition. Lobbying and petitions aside, it explains statistically one aspect that helped save the station from closure.
A great note for bands out there is that figures also suggest 6 Music were the only national station to give airplay to a staggering 750 of the 4,500 songwriter royalties paid out by PRS For Music.
The digital station has always been known for it's diversification, but these figures are pretty amazing! Coupled with the news that radio veteran Lorna Clarke has been appointed as the 6 Music Network Manager with immediate effect, the future certainly is bright for the once doomed station!
