BBC 6Music saved, Asian Network not so fortunate

The endless campaigning to save 6Music has paid off as yesterday the BBC Trust announced that the digital station will stay. But unfortunately, this wonderful news is tarnished with the other news that BBC Asian Network is set to close, alongside other BBC initiatives such as BBC Blast.

Steve Levine, chairman of the Music Producers Guild (UK) commented:

"The reprieve of 6 Music is fantastic news. By championing talent and originality, 6 Music provides the perfect antidote to the bland outpourings of so much of today's media. We need stations like this and are delighted that the BBC Trust has rejected plans to close it."
