Things look up for HMV

News: 1st July 2010 by Louise Dodgson under Selling & Distributing Your Music

The high-street retail chain HMV has reported a rise in profits which isn't bad at all considering the current economic climate. Back in 2007 the entertainment giant implemented a plan to boost revenue following the decline of record sales, which the chain had always been able to strongly rely upon previously. Apparently the increased sales of Blu-Ray DVDs has contributed greatly to HMV's turnaround in profits, so it seems that the emphasis has been taken off music sales.

And don't forget that HMV has also broadened its net into the live music sector with the purchase of venue owners MAMA Group and this is set to draw more money into the company.
