After weeks of study, practical and theoretical learning, as well as performances in public, the first round of students have just graduated from The Manchester College's new Centre For Music at Band on the Wall.
In a 3 day showcase of their work, the students showed off skills from the production, performance and management courses, previously based at The Manchester College's Shena Simon site. Higher Education and Further Education graduates organised their own events and put on the live music too, with young DJs from the Centre showing off skills taught to them by club DJ Mark XTC.
The partnership with The Manchester College and Manchester's iconic music venue Band on the Wall was announced officially on 29th May, with an outdoor event at Sackville Gardens. Supported by broadcaster Terry Christian and DJ Craig Charles, who hosts his Funk & Soul Club at the venue, the launch saw live performances from 6 student bands including funk and soul group D-Star, all of whom have now successfully graduated from their studies.
The courses are a unique opportunity for students to gain real life experience whilst developing the skills they need to work in the music industry. The educational and professional development these courses offer will prove invaluable when students look for employment in the sector.
Course available from September 2013 include:
Music Technology
Live Sound Engineering
Music Performance
Music Industry Management
