In this latest series of blogs we’ll be introducing you to The Unsigned Guide’s Official Partners. We’ve decided to team up with these carefully selected companies as we believe they are leaders in their field and, most importantly, have lots to offer independent and unsigned musicians, not to mention the wider music industry. So without further ado, let’s meet our first official partner Midem.
is an annual event held every January in the South of France which attracts artists, music industry professionals, companies and brands, plus technology experts from all corners of the globe to discuss their joint interest: music. It’s a perfect opportunity for networking and doing business, finding out about new products and technology, and there are also over 80 gigs showcasing new music during the course of the event.
Last month the Midem team attended Amsterdam Dance Event and gave the following presentation providing an overview of best & worst social media practices by brands and bands.
Examples include Amanda Palmer‘s crowdfunding, Topspin’s Ian Rogers’ D2F and quotes from deadmau5, Paul Van Dyk and Contagious’ Will Sansom and many more.
The presentation ends with 7 hands-on tips for how to engage effectively with your fans and followers. In a nutshell: you have to give to receive! Check out the link below to view the presentation for yourself and hopefully you’ll pick up some handy pointers about using social media to your advantage.
This presentation was given to introduce a panel with Fame House’s Michael Fiebach and Red Light Management’s Randy Reed, about attention-grabbing initiatives like putting DJ Shadow on BitTorrent… legally! Fiebach will also speak at midem 2013.
